Sustainable production of chemicals for gold mines Arela Chemicals is a waste-to-energy-to-chemicals venture that exploits renewable technology to locally manufacture key chemical inputs for the mining sector in Ghana and the region of West Africa. Specifically, maize stover is a feedstock for biogas production that is then used for electricity, fuel for natural gas vehicles and chemical synthesis of sodium cyanide. Sodium cyanide is used by the gold mines to extract gold from the ore.
