Android based long range, low-latency video and imaging for drones
Getting aerial imagery, real-time video, and telemetry from long-range aerial vehicles is a task that requires deep knowledge of analog video, RF, sensors, and camera hacking. Airboss is an Android app that makes it easier to get these things just by mounting an Android phone to a small unmanned vehicle. While performance isn't as flawless as existing analog solutions, Airboss is cheap, simple, and usually good enough for most aerial photography applications. Airboss uses WebRTC to deliver low-latency video over 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi. Real world latency can be anywhere from 10ms (good enough for FPV) to 500 ms (good as a camera viewfinder for still photography and video).
